Great belts !!!

I ordered and received two v belts for a Craftsman riding mower, The deck drive belt looked and worked great ! The ground drive belt had the correct part number as ordered but would not work properly. The old belt and new belt were the same number and same length but the new belt was wider than the old belt. When I installed the new belt it rode higher in the v belt pulleys and held the ground drive assembly in the "engaged " position. The old "cloth wrapped" belt covering was intact and only slightly glazed from use. I had to reinstall the old belt before the ground drive assembly would disengage and engage properly. I do mower and small engine repair and have installed many belts. This mower is one I acquired to resell and I usually replace v belts before selling a used machine. I will keep this belt for future use but I do not understand why it was too wide when it had the correct part number. Please let me know why it had the proper number but was so much wider than the used belt. Thanks guys.

The belt I purchased was for the mower deck on a Craftsman lawn tractor. After installing it, the mower ran without engaging the mower clutch, not a good thing. After using the mower for about 15 minutes, it started functioning as it is supposed to, running the mower only when the mower clutch is engaged. I’ve used the mower for a couple of hours since and everything working fine.
