Belt felt too tight and fell apart in 10 minutes

Belt felt a bit tight. Adjusted the clutch according to the Exmark alignment marks. It engaged but a bit harder than normal. I assumed it just needed some break in. After 10 minute it was smoking and belt fell apart. I guess you get what you pay for.
