I have a snowblower attachment to my lawn tractor that required this size belt and I had bought some kevlar belts for this application, thinking they would last longer. Because the belt changes planes within 3-4 inches of distance between pulleys, (whereas belt manufacturers will tell you that this size belt needs 10-12" to change planes), the strong kevlar belts kept snapping apart. Going to these Gates EPDM (much weaker belts) solved my problem. Belts no longer snap within 10 minutes of running the blower although they do break if I run the machine for a long time through heavy compacted snow. My problem comes from the snowblower attachment being poorly designed for Maine weather, not from bad belts. In fact, the lesson I learned is that a weaker EPDM belt suited the twisting action better than a very stiff Kevlar belt.
